EV CHARGE CARD

EV (Electric Vehicle) RFID Charge Cards

There are currently over half a million electric vehicles on the road in the Netherlands. With increasing demand, this number is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years. With such an increase in EVs, there will be a need for an equivalent number of charging stations, as well as other necessary tools such as EV Charging RFID Cards. As a daily driver requirement, these cards will be essential for those who want the convenience and comfort of having a card that they can simply wave in front of a charging station to start the charging process.

What are EV RFID charging cards?

The electric vehicle industry has been experiencing steady growth in recent years as more people become aware of the benefits of owning an electric vehicle. If you currently operate an EV charging business or are planning to start one, you will need to provide high-quality RFID cards that can be used to activate the charging process. This will not only provide your consumers with a convenient way to charge their vehicles, but it will also help you keep track of your customers and their usage.

MIFARE® is one of the most popular contactless smart card technologies used in EV charging cards, with over 10 billion chips and 150 million readers produced to date. This 13.56Mhz high-frequency technology is based on the ISO/IEC 14443A standard and is widely used in payment, transportation, access control, education, and loyalty card systems, among other applications.

How do EV RFID charging cards work?

An EV Charging Card, or EV Charging Smartcard, is a contactless card that uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to communicate with an EV charger. An EV Smartcard often works in conjunction with an application on a smartphone or other device that allows the user to activate the charging process and automatically charge their account.
NFC chips use the same 13.56Mhz frequency as all other high-frequency cards, but follow the strict NFC Forum Compliance Standard to ensure they are compatible with any NFC-enabled phone or device. The NFC standard is based on ISO 14443, Sony’s FeliCa, and ISO 18092 and was created to ensure a secure form of data exchange between card and reader.
